Matthew: This is a deep and powerful look into mortality, which is almost too big of a subject to tackle. I have looked into this not from a cemetery perspective but from obscure on-line histories and other evidence of people who lived and passed, who I honor when I come across their stories. Too often I see even yesterday's history ignored. Your physical presence at gravesites is a special kind of commitment. The "dash" is a meaningful symbol of life - encapsulating a universe of experiences in a simple character. And I will try to find the Mark Salomon song. Finally, your inclusion of the Armenian genocide, the Bean Creek Baptist Church, the Einsatzgruppen and the Nacoochee Methodist Church shines a light on lesser known groups that deserve our attention. For a 5-minute read, that's a lot of territory to cover - a really profound, first-rate piece of work.
