I think there is a way we can come to grips with the truth without imploding as a nation and as a society.

I agree with this statement fully - it should accepted as standard to tell white kids in public school classrooms they have a chance to rectify wrongs and that it is honorable to admit to horrific acts and go about dismantling their effects. I knew intuitively in the 4th grade that Manifest Destiny was brutal and later that The Trail of Tears, a genocidal act perpetrated with intent againt the Cherokee, was also a betrayal of Christian values ........ the CRT controversy is not unexpected, but we need to find a way to convince its opponents that the truth need not be hidden and that we have a chance to redeem ourselves.

One example may be what I experienced in Western Germany regarding the Holocaust. In my limited experience I felt a genuine coming to grips with the awful truth and saw national displays on former death camp sites which were transparent in exposing the role of the average citizen.

I'm curious as to your reaction regarding this piece, which was meant to be a not-impossible-dream and to honor the original caretakers of this land:
