Just yesterday I was using that angle when a non-linear thinker was being criticized for basically not being like everyone else. They were not "polished" enough to be taken seriously at the upper echelons of government. They had accomplished remarkable things, and their offbeat style was part of their accomplishments. But this attitude was around long before me.
