Elizabeth: Thanks for tackling this in a non-clichéd manner, and I would love to counter some of what you say about the male attitude toward female desire with my own egalitarian attiude, but it took me decades to get here. Wrapping the discussion about sexuality into the abortion debate is exactly where the thinking ought to be, and full sex ed, simplified contraception availability and healthy, non-stigmatized sexual behavior would certainly result in a better situation than we have now. And I remember The Godfather 's sex scenes quite specifically, although they were a sidebar really to the main plot - funny how we connected with that. I think we're in better shape than we were in 1963, but starting to regress from 2012, perhaps, and there are lots of fronts on which this battle must be fought. The irony -- or travesty, or abomination -- of having Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh pushing their hypocrisy out to 350 million Americans is enough to inspire some very extreme maneuvers to circumvent whatever they devise. Some lawmakers are helping to create state laws that protect the right to choose and the people who serve that cause in their own states -- but we'll need to be even smarter and more creative in the future, because the minds that conceived of suing abortion-providers in other states are capable of coming up with anything.
